Description

Who says American Sci-Fi always has the coolest Spaceships ?????. [and before anyone says anything, YES I have noticed I accidentally left out the 2nd 'S' in Spaceships making it say Sci-Fi Space Hips !!, ha ha :D ]

So anyway, I was bored, and decided to use my old Spaceships of Science Fiction upload doctorwhoone.deviantart.com/ar… to help me make this once I deleted all the ships except the Tardis, Starbug 1, Red Dwarf and Thunderbird 3.

So here's all the Spaceships I know from well known Sci-Fi's made here in the UK, with the exception of the ship next to the Tardis, which is Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic Spacecraft known as 'Spaceship 2' www.virgingalactic.com/news/it…

Just in case you don't recognize some of the ships, here's a nice list ;)

THE TARDIS
The Doctor's Space / Time Machine and the BEST ship in the Universe and Sci-Fi in general from Doctor Who.

STARSHIP UK
Also from Doctor Who from the 2010 series 5 episode 'The Beast Below', shown just above the lamp of the Tardis.

STARBUG 1
From 'Red Dwarf'. Starbug's where built to last, and Starbug 1 was no exception, as she's crashed more times then a Sinclair ZX81 Computer :D

UFO's
From the late Gerry Anderson's 1970's TV series 'UFO', they sometimes traveled in groups during the series, but sometimes only 1 occasionally approached Earth.

BLUE MIDGET
Originally featured in series II of 'Red Dwarf' before being replaced by Starbug 1 because the cockpit of Blue Midget was not big enough to feature 4 characters by the time Kryten arrived, but by series VIII, Blue Midget got rebuilt by the Nanobot's, and so, the Cockpit did eventually get bigger by that time. Blue Midget also seemed to get used a bit more than Starbug 1 during the recent series X.

EAGLE TRANSPORTER
These craft featured in another of the late Gerry Anderson's TV series called 'Space: 1999'. Eagle Transporters could be reconfigured to use different modules which where -

Passenger Module
Booster Module
Rescue Module
Pallet Module
Cargo Module

The one featured in the upload is the normal eagle.

HEART OF GOLD
From the late Douglas Adam's 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', thou I've decided to just use the film version rather then the TV one, and just to make a note of it, I'm not really a fan of the aforementioned TV series, but since it is British and the late Douglas Adam's also worked on 'Doctor Who', I didn't have the heart to leave it out.

THUNDERBIRD 3
From the classic 60's TV series 'Thunderbirds', also produced by the late Gerry Anderson. Thunderbird 3 was featured a lot in a very memorable episode of the series called 'Sun Probe', it which it was used to help a ship called the Sun Probe escape destruction and killing it's crew of 3 astronauts by heading into the Sun. Thunderbird 3 saved the ship and it's crew, but then needed saving itself, which thankfully happened :)

The 2004 film version of the craft in my personal view is the most faithful looking to the original Thunderbird 3 out of the live action versions in comparison with the originals.

RED DWARF
No doubt the biggest ship in any known British Sci-Fi series [with the exception of the good Doctor's Tardis, being bigger on the inside then the outside, and said therefore to be infinite in size]. Red Dwarf was, according to the ships computer Holly, the size of a city.

The ship is 5 miles long [or 6 miles according to the so called 'Bookazine' Spaceships of Science Fiction], 4 miles wide and 5 miles high.

I've never understood why they call it the small rouge one, I much prefer Cat's description - A giant red trash can with no breaks and 3 Million years on the clock :D

:iconbromley001: According to Deviant Art user Bromley 001, the reason for why Red Dwarf is called the 'small rouge one is -

Re: Red Dwarf - The Small Rouge One is so called because it's Red (Rouge) Dwarf (small). Hence, The Small Rouge One! ;)

FIREBALL XL5
From another series of the late Gerry Anderson's from the 1960's of the same name. I've never actually seen the show as I don't believe it's ever been repeated on Television since the 1960's, but it's one I have often noticed being associated with Gerry Anderson a lot when people speak about him.

:iconfourth-heir: Deviant Art user Fourth-Heir claims that he remembered watching Fireball XL5 on Saturday morning's sometimes in the 80's, so since I was born in 1988, it was before my time then that the show got re-broadcast.

HMS CAMDEN LOCK
From the not-so-funny-and-often-described-as-a-Red-Dwarf-copycat called 'Hyperdrive' made by the BBC in 2006, which lasted just 2 series and 12 episodes. The ship was named after the county 'Camden Lock' from Greater London here in the UK, recognized best by this sign painted on a bridge www.photograph-london.com/lond…

HMS Camden Lock's mission in the series was to look after British interests in space, which didn't go quite so well.

UFO INTERCEPTOR'S
Also from the aforementioned 'UFO'. It was their job to destroy any approaching UFO ships before they reached Earth. Unfortunately, these ships where a bit rubbish, as they only fired 1 missile each, and if the missiles missed their target, then that was that, they had no extra missiles or any other weapons.

THE LIBERATOR
From the 1970's TV series 'Blake's 7' made by the late Terry Nation, the man who created the concept of Doctor Who [and Sci-Fi in general] greatest evil - THE DALEKS !!!!!!!!!!!! . . . . . . . and later their prune face creator, Davros :D

The Liberator is an Alien craft of unknown origin, acquired by Blake and his crew after it's abandonment in a space battle.

Very nice collection of spaceships! My favorites from childhood were the TARDIS, SHADO Interceptors, and Thunderbird 3. The Eagle, Liberator, and Red Dwarf became my favorites later on in life.
