Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Silence, Gentlemen and Whispermen Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Buffy - Series 4 introduced perhaps the most terrifying villains in living memory of all 7 series of Buffy, the Gentlemen, who in the episode 'Hush' stole the voices of everyone in Sunnydale, and then went on a little killing spree to aquire 7 hearts . . never did find out why they needed them to begin with ! . . but it seems in more recent years of modern Doctor Who, the Gentlemen have perhaps been honoured in memory with the similarly dressed Silence and the equally terryfing lookalikes the Whispermen during the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Classic Silurians and Gill Men Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
The original style Silurians was introduced in the 1970 story 'Doctor Who and the Silurians'. Many years later, and the Buffy - Series 2 episode 'Go Fish' introduced the sililar looking Gill Men.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! The Hellmouth and the Cardiff Rift Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Oh boy, if there had to be anything that seriously connected the Buffyverse to the Whoniverse, it has got to be the Hellmouth of Sunnydale for Buffy, the Rift in Cardiff for the Doctor. Sunnydale was built right on top of a Hellmouth, while in Doctor Who - Series 1 during the early days of the new series back in 2005, the episode 'The Unquiet Dead' saw the introduction of the Rift which was originally being used by evil gas like aliens called the Gelth to try to invade Earth by entering dead peoples bodies and using the bodies themselves to kill living people just to allow other Gelths to inhabit their bodies. Servant girl Gweneth stopped the Gelth from fully invading, sacrificing her life in the process, but the Rift lived on, becoming a source of power for the Doctor's Tardis in episodes 'Boomtown' and 'Utopia', and also saw extensive use in episodes of the Doctor Who spin-off series 'Torchwood'. I often wonder if the Rift in Cardiff still exists in the Doctor Who universe, and I'm sure it's never been mentioned in Doctor Who since the aforementioned episode 'Utopia' back in 2007.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Rupert Giles and Mr Finch Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Blatently obvious, both are played by the wonderfully talented Anthony Stewart Head. Originally, before becoming Rupert Giles in Buffy, Anthony had originally auditioned to play the 8th Doctor for the 1996 Doctor Who TV Movie, but off course the role went straight to Paul McGann, but 10 years later, he finally got to be on Doctor Who . . if not sadly as the Doctor . . but as Head Teacher Mr Finch, or by his real name, Brother Lassar of the evil Krillitanes. Personally, I've always joked whenever I watch 'School Reunion' that Giles had somehow became a Krillitane and that someone should tell Buffy and kill Giles, or rather what became of him as the leader of the Krillitanes ! :D

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Crossover Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Remember that time the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler appeared in Buffy ? . . no, me nither, since Buffy had ended on TV in 2003 and David Tennant and Billie Piper was not the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler on screen until 2006, but they cropped up in a Buffy graphic novel called 'No Future For You' as part of Joss Whedons continuation of Buffy with so called 'Series 8', Joss's continuatation of Buffy after the series ended offically on TV with series 7 in 2003. Pity the Tardis is not properly represented behind the Doctor and Rose by not being a Police Public Call Box.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Dawn Summers and Princess Astra Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
So, just what does Buffy's younger sister Dawn [Michelle Trachtenberg] have in common with Princess Astra [Lalla Ward] of the planet Atrios ?. Well, despite the obvious that they are both female, what truly connects them is that they are both - KEYS !!. Dawn Summers was originally, and quite simply known as, the Key. Her true form was never shown on screen, but the Key was described as shimmering green energy, and could be used to open portals. The Key was made Human, given largely fake memories of a life it truly never lived, and became Buffy's younger sister Dawn, with everyone around Dawn also given fake memories to make it appear she had always existed since Buffy - Series 1 in 1997 [in fact, if the unmade Buffy animated series had been done, it would have been set during Series 1, and feature an even younger Dawn right there and then]. The reason for the Key being disguised and sent to Buffy was protect it from an evil god from another dimension called Glorificous or Glory for short, who wanted to use the key to open demensions and cause eternal chaos and destruction. But before there was the Key from Buffy being disguised as Dawn Summers, there was Princess Astra of the planet Atrios, who unlike Dawn was not a full Key, but rather part of one, as Princess Astra was in fact the sixth and final segment of the Key to Time, which once assembled with it's other five segments could form a perfect transparent pink cube which could re-set the balance between good and evil in the Doctor's universe, Princess Astra was introduced in 'The Armageddon Factor', the final part of the 1978/79 six part adventure 'The Key to Time'. So originally, Dawn Summers exited in Doctor Who under a totally different form and was a Princess of an alien world . . who'd have thought it eh !.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Fred and Sarah Jane Smith Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Being possessed, that's what connects Fred [Amy Acker] from the Buffy spin-off 'Angel' and former Doctor Who companion Sarah Jane Smith [Elisabeth Sladen]. Fred died and was possessed by Illyria the Merciless, who in the Buffyverse is one of the old ones. Sarah Jane Smith was often, the classic series of Doctor Who, always being possessed by something or another, but her most famous case of being possessed was by evil alien Eldred of the planet Castria, who controlled Sarah with a ring she found on Eldred's stone hand, leading Sarah to often famously say in the 1976 story [story her last with the 4th Doctor] 'The Hand of Fear' that "Eldrad must live !". Poor Sarah was getting real sick of death of being possessed all the time, so it seems Fred got lucky only being possessed the one time by Illyria, even if it ment being dead first before having her body taken over . . sorry Fred . . rest in peace dear.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Sharing the same title Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
THE MASTER !! . . Buffy's was an incredibly old Vampire, while the Doctor's was a fellow Time Lord who he was once friends with. The fact that both characters are called the Master is one of the earliest connections that exist between Doctor Who and Buffy since the character was introduced at the very beginning in 1997 in pilot episode 'Welcome to the Hellmouth'. The Master was originally introduced in the 3rd Doctor story 'Terror of the Autons' in 1971 by the sadly much missed actor Roger Delgardo. But . . who between the Master of Doctor Who and the Master of Buffy the is best Master ? . . there's only one way to find out - FIGHTTTTTTTTTTT !!.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Spike and Captain John Hart Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Both bad boys where famously played by James Marsters. Spike was introduced in Series 2 of Buffy in the episode 'School Hard' as a new Vampire villian, while John Hart was introduced in Doctor Who spin-off 'Torchwood' in the Series 2 debut episode 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang' who was a fellow Time Agent and ex-boyfriend to Captain Jack Harkness. Much as John Hart was a fun character, personally, I much prefer Spike !.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Rings Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Could it be that Rassilon himself possessed not one, but two rings that could grant their wears Immortaility ?, if so, he lost the one that became known as the Gem of Amara. Appearing first in Buffy the Series 4 episode 'The Harsh Light of Day', the Gem of Amara could grant Vampires true Immortality and make the invincible against sunlight and a good old stake through the heart. It's final appearance was in spin-off series 'Angel' in the Series 1 episode 'In the Dark' where it was given to Buffy's Vampire with a soul ex-boyfriend Angel by her friend Oz who went to do a gig in Los Angeles and happily taken it to Angel on Buffy's behalf along the way to L.A., but off course, the ring was destroyed by Angel by simplying smashing the poor thing with a bloody brick after fellow Vampire Spike followed Oz to L.A. all the way from Sunnydale to get the ring for himself. In Doctor Who's 1983 20th Anniversary story 'The Five Doctors', the Ring of Rassilon grants a Time Lord Immortality . . but turns anyone who wears it into a fricken statue inside the Dark Tower of Rassilon himself . . avoid Rassilon's ring at all costs people !.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Buffy Summers and the Doctor's Daughter Jenny Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
According to website 'Tardis Data Core' on Doctor Who connections with Buffy, comic artist Georges Jeanty was convinced that the Doctor's daughter Jenny from the 2008 Series 4 Doctor Who episode 'The Doctors Daughter' was an homage to Buffy herself, so he decided to return the favious by deliberately having Buffy wear Jenny's clothes from that episode in the Buffy - Series 8 graphic novel story 'Twilight, part one'.

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Drusilla and the third incarnation of Romana Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Yes yes, I know, it seems I spelt Drusilla slightly wrong on the upload, please don't worry about it ! . . anyways, Vampire Druscilla, who to me always looked like she was a drug user who was looking for her next fix to fuel a drug habit, was the girlfriend of aforementioned Spike. Brilliantly played by actress Juliet Landau [her parents are well known, as they are Martin Landau and Barbara Bain who appeared together in the Gerry Anderson TV series 'Space: 1999']. All thou Juliet had never starred in Doctor Who or spin-off 'Torchwood' like her fellow Buffy cast mate James Marsters, Juliet has voiced for Big Finish productions a third incarnation of former 4th Doctor companion Romana, who in the audio series 'Gallifrey' is Madam President of the Time Lords of Gallifrey . . perhaps the Time Lords should be informed she was previously a Vampire ? . . ..

Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U! Buffy Summers and Rose Tyler Dot Bullet (Light Blue) - F2U!
Buffy Summers was the latest in a long line of Vampire Slayers, destined to destroy Vampires, Demons and other forces of darkness, while Rose Tyler was the latest in a long line of companions, helping him to destroy Daleks, Cybermen and other forces of darkness . . but being the latest in a long line of either Vampire Slayers or companions is not the real reason for their connection here, it's the fact that when he first brought Doctor Who back in 2005, Russell T. Davies was using Buffy as a template to re-create and modernise Doctor Who for the 21st century, and diberatly gave Rose Tyler blonde hair as a nod to Buffy herself being a fellow blonde, as a homage to Buffy herself, even if Rose does sadly lack her kick ass Vampire Slayer powers . . but she did win the Jericho Junior School under 7's gymnastic team bronze medal.

I've been a fan of Buffy ever since it came out. I talked to my 12 year old nephew about it but he wasn't interested in watching it. But he's a big time fan of Dr. Who and I've never seen Dr. Who. Maybe these connections will convince him to watch Buffy and I'll watch Dr. Who finally! Thanks for this! Can't wait to show him!
