Re-uploaded due to the fact that it seems I got the information on the original upload of this wrong about what each sides function is, so thanks to Doctor Who Adventures issue 303, I can now state the real actual function of all 6 sides of this brand new Tardis Console, so if you end up looking at the original upload, the information is wrong as I copied it from 'The Tardis Handbook' by Steve Tribe which detailed the 2010 version of the Tardis Console as it seems I wrongly assumed that each function would remain the same despite the change in design.
So here is the following correct information regarding the new Tardis console as stated by Doctor Who Adventures -
CONTROL PANEL 1 - COMMUNICATIONS This section is for outgoing communications and sending time coordinates and other control settings to different parts of the Tardis.
CONTROL PANEL 2 - HELM This controls the Tardis engines and allows the Doctor to steer the Tardis through time and space manually.
CONTROL PANEL 3 - INTERFACE This is a new intelligent panel that allows the Doctor to directly connect with the mind of the Tardis.
CONTROL PANEL 4 - INFORMATION PROCESSOR This section is for processing and displaying incoming information, which can be relayed to the screens above the console.
CONTROL PANEL 5 - AUXILIARY POWER SYSTEMS These are the auxiliary power controls - a back up for all systems.
CONTROL PANEL 6 -MANUAL ADJUSTMENT This clock-like panel is for manual adjustment to the time coordinates and acts as a fail safe time control.
Very nice! One thing though: in the newest episode, "The Bells of St. John," when the Doctor and Clara first run into the TARDIS and he gives her a quick rundown of what he is and what he's doing, he actually goes to a panel on the rail surrounding the console and does something as if there were more panels around the console! Weird, right? I don't think they ever meant us to fully understand the TARDIS in any way. Also, could I ask that you put the secondary labels onto the picture itself (i.e. Communications, Helm, etc.)? It's a bit tricky looking from the panel to its name in the description.
Tell ya the truth, Ive never really liked the 7th/8th Doctor version of the Tardis Console Room. Much too dark, and I'm not keen on a wood-built console.
I think it's beautiful. Got a whole Victorian time traveller feel to it.....but to each his own
I'm not a fan of 9/10's like a lot of people.... though it's only because it doesn't have visible doors/stairs leading to the rest of the Tardis haha. Aesthetically I quite like them all in some ways.
So in order for me its:
8's Tardis new Tardis classic Tardis (yeah they changed slightly but they all look similar) 11's Tardis 10's Tardis 4's secondary console room
