Display mannequin's, also known as shop window dummies . . they used to be viewd as boring lumps of plastic based on the human form, designed to wear clothes you can buy in any clothes shops.

But since 1970, at least for us Doctor Who fan's . . they are killer bloody Auton's of the Nestine Conciousness !!.

The real problem with watching 1970's adventure 'Spearhead from Space' and 2005's 'Rose' is that once you have watched those two stories, you just can't look at any kind of mannequin anywhere you go and not think to yourself "bloody Auton's" as much as I do on a regular basis every week !!

I even look at their hands sometimes, hopeing there's no gun conceled inside them.

I can't remember when I first watched 'Spearhead from Space', but it's a good thing I never saw it as a kid whilst growing up in the 1990's, otherwise I'd have been scared shitless 24/7 every time I went out anywhere with mannequin's on display. I was 17 by the time 'Rose' first aired and they'd come back so it was no problem by then.

But truthfully, like all my fellow Doctor Who fan's, I can never, ever look at any sort of display mannequin now without thinking of the Auton's . . that's Doctor Who for you, it changes your perception of an every day object and keeps you thinking about it in how Doctor Who showed them to you - perminantly ! . .

I envy anyone who's never seen those two Auton stories, you can just see display mannequin's for what they are. I will never be able to look at them in the same way ever again for as long as I live.
