As a Doctor Who fan, one of the things I am often sick and tired of other fan's debating is this -

Is Paul McGann's 8th Doctor from the 1996 TV Movie 'Doctor Who' really one of the Doctors ?.

The answer quite simply is - YES !!.

The proof is right in front of your eyes if you watch the TV Movie [or this upload in this case :) ] with the scene where Sylvester McCoy's 7th Doctor passes on, and regenerates into Paul McGann's 8th Doctor, therefore Paul McGann's 8th Doctor DOES count as one of the current 11 Doctors.

For me personally, I would actually rather agree that Paul McGann's Doctor does not count IF the TV Movie did not feature the regeneration between Sylvester and Paul if Sylvester was not there at the start of the film, but since Sylvester was the last of the classic Doctors on TV in 1989 and left holding the key to the Tardis right up to the TV Movie in 1996 in order to hand it over to Paul McGann, then yes, Paul is officially one of the current 11 incarnations of THE Doctor.

END OF DEBATE.

I find the TV movie deeply flawed, but entertaining. However, I absolutely love th audiodramas featuring the 8th Doctor. You can also find that the dramas about the Time War match up with what we're told about it in the Revived show.

What I don't get is how people bitch and moan about there technically not being an 8th doctor, yet no one seems to point out that there are actually 2 9th doctors. Technically.

Yeah there are sort of 2 9th Doctor's, since Richard E. Grant voiced a cartoon version for a BBC Doctor Who website called 'Scream of the Shalka' a couple of years before Christopher Eccleston became the official 9th Doctor, but seeing as Chris's 9th Doctor and Richard's cartoon version is not, I guess Richard's one could be considered as an alternative 9th Doctor in a version of Doctor Who where each incarnation of the Doctor looks different compared to the current 11 versions of him in our own universe.

Totally my favourite Doctor. I like the audios more than the movie, because the whole half-human thing, but the movie introduced me to him so I can't complain.

Well of course McGann counts---he's the George Lazenby of the DW franchise, but his contribution is obviously relevant.

Plus McGann's doctor was shown a few times in the New-Series... he was drawn in the Journal in Human Nature/Whatever part II of Human Nature is called and his face was shown in the Eleventh Hour in the hologram of all the doctors.
