Doctor Who - Stealing the Tardis by DoctorWhoOne Doctor Who - Stealing the Tardis by DoctorWhoOne
The Doctor and Susan are about to steal a Tardis and flee Gallifrey.

Until Clara stops him, and tell's him to take the one with the faulty navigation - but at least it would be so much FUN !!!!!! :D

This kinda changes things I think, cos we've always believed that the Doctor stole the Tardis with Susan, and in 'The Doctor's Wife', the Tardis herself said "You stole me, and I stole you", but assuming that Clara [or at least a Gallifreyan version of her] was on Gallifrey the day the Doctor fled his homeworld with Susan, then it seems he only took the Tardis we know to be his because Clara told him to take it, cos it seems he would have gone for another one and not the one we know to be his.

Funny thing is, how did she know the Tardis she was standing next too would eventually be the one he would end up with as a Police Box ?, cos it shown with other Tardis's, all un-disguised and identical.

I'm not gonna think about it. I'm going to bed . . . . night night, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ;)

That's 50 years of canon storylines down the drain. Congrats writers for ruining another element in doctor who

Now wait there just a darn minute, how on earth could have Steven Moffat ruined how the Doctor and Susan acquired the Tardis ?, it had never been shown before how he and his granddaughter got her so it's not 'down the drain' as you put it.

If anything, I'm glad this scene was done, as I'd always used to imagine what it must have been like for the Doctor the day he stole the Tardis with his granddaughter Susan.

I just presumed the great intelligence made him choose the wrong one and Clara was just fixing the timeline.

As for which Tardis she probably found out which one didn't like her haha

That's actually a clever and reasonable little theory. :-)

Even if it's not the real reason, I guess the Gallifrey version of Clara had lived on the planet and worked for the Doctor's home chapter long enough to start snooping around in the various TARDIS hangars. That particular scene kind of begs the question whether the alien Clara also has non-human biology. (My personal bet is yes, otherwise the locals would probably notice after her birth.) Another question implicit in that scene is whether she's meant to be a Time Lady apprentice of sorts, or just some commoner who's part of the citadel's staff.

I believe the Great Intelligence may have indeed made sure the Doctor chose the wrong Tardis, so the Time Lord version of Clara made sure he ended up with the one we know to be his Tardis.

It makes perfect sense! I also chalk the Yeti in The Five Doctors to be down the Great Intelligence's attack on the Doctor's time-stream...though I think he handled that one alright on his own.

Makes sense. The Doctor said that his TARDIS was the only one that was unlocked, so all the GI had to do was unlock another one that he tried first.
