Doctor Who - R.I.P. Bill Potts

Bill Potts was a truly brilliant companion during this years series. It's just a crying shame that it's gonna be her only one, as I would have been happy if she'd stayed to become the companion for the upcoming 13th Doctor, rather like how Rose Tyler was for the 10th Doctor so he was with someone familar to him when undergoing regeneration.

Pearl Mackie played Bill brilliantly during this entire run, and I hope all the best for her and hopefully see her in other TV series and perhaps any films she may star in in the years to come.

My only real problem I've had with Bill, and I know I am not alone in this, even James Wilson and Matthew Rawney of YouTube channel 'The Who Addicts' have felt the same way about this, is that during this series, I got tired of Bill keep bringing up the fact that she is a Lesbian. I don't get why Bill had to be made a Lesbian to begin with, because sexuality has nothing to do with storylines, and the fact that Bill is a Lesbian didn't really serve any purpose what so ever to the storylines of series 10 at all, and to be honest, no one ever cared about the sexuality of a companion in the classic series or before Bill Potts even arrived in the series anyway, and since Doctor Who is not about sexuality but adventures in time and space, on Earth and far away planets, spaceships, space stations and other times and places, then really having a companion keep reminding us that she's a Lesbian was totally not important . . yes, we get there are Gay and Lesbian people in the world, I'm not denying that . . but Doctor Who is just not the kind of series I feel that such a thing should bring up. If you want a program that involves Gay and Lesbian characters then you might as well watch something like Russell T. Davies's 'Queer as Folk' or a TV series or 'Eastenders' or 'Holby City' which has been known to have such characters . . even the old Doctor Who spin-off 'Torchwood' with Jack and Lanto !! . . and to be honest, if someone was expecting to see Bill actually kissing a woman let along having sex with one during an episode of series 10, then you know damn well you'd not see that sort of thing anyway in Doctor Who . . except in the aforemented 'Torchwood'.

But aside from that one thing that really often annoyed me about Bill which I really do feel was meaningless and served absolutely no point to the storylines of this years series [and personally, I still believe John Barrowman is Doctor Who's first openly Gay companion, not Bill], I really have enjoyed Bill during series 10 . . I only wish she could have stayed on for another series at least
