Raymond P Cusick - The true creator of the Daleks

Raymond P. Cusick, legendary real life creator of the Daleks from Doctor Who. Sadly died on Thursday this week age 84 after a short illness. His death was announced last night

Raymond created the Daleks 50 years ago after being inspired by a pepper pot on a table inside the BBC Canteen at the BBC's legendary TV studios . . . . and boy did he turn a pepper pot into a lean mean hate race of exterminating maniacs that we all know and love

Raymond was the true Dalek creator, NOT Terry Nation in my view, who people always say was the real creator of the Daleks, but I don't believe Terry was their true creator. Terry thought up the Daleks, but he did NOT design them, that task went to Raymond P. Cusick, and I personally hate the mere mention of Terry Nation, cos that son of a bitch got all the money for the creation of the Daleks while poor old Ray got fuck all for his job. He deserved all that money, not Terry 'take the money and fly like a thief' bloody Nation.

Infact, it states quite clearly thanks to this latest Doctor Who Online story regarding Ray's sad passing -

"The design of The Daleks has changed very little since the 1960's and at the time of designing, Cusick was on a standard BBC salary, so did not collect any royalties from his designs.

The Daleks have since gone on to earn huge revenues for Terry Nation's estate - a fact which many fans feel Cusick should have received more recognition (and royalties) for".

But at least he lived a longer life then Terry. Terry died aged 66 in 1997.
