I'm not a Cosplay myself, even thou I sort off have Cosplayed as Jason from 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' in the past with a T-Shirt of the top half of his Red Ranger suit and a mask I made myself, but last night I had a rather interesting thought on the subject when it comes to real life Cosplayers and actors who dress up in TV shows and films.

The thought that came to me was this - If you wear a Cosplay based on a character from a TV show or film, then your just a Cosplayer, but if your an actor wearing a specially made suit for a live action film like 'Avengers - Assemble' or a TV show like a modern day 'Power Rangers', then is that actor or actors also Cosplaying whilst doing their job as actors playing their role in a TV show and / or film ?.

So when someone Cosplay's say the modern day version of 'Iron-Man', they are a Cosplayer, but if Robert Downey Jr is seen filming on set of a new Iron-Man film or with his cast mates for another Avengers film, does that mean that he himself is also Cosplaying at the same time ?.

Or if a group of Cosplayer's dress up as a team of Power Rangers, then does that also mean that actors who play Power Rangers in anyone of the various versions of the series are also Cosplaying themselves when they wear those helmets and costumes to film a new series ?.

Seeing as a lot of Cosplayer's are now wearing extremely accurate replicas of what you see in TV shows and films, such as the Iron-Man Cosplayer on the left, above, then maybe now days it might be that even actors think they themselves are also Cosplaying as the same characters many people wear to conventions, but in their case it's work related in terms of playing characters, and not for the fun of just dressing up and attending a convention as it would be for a Cosplayer B-)

What's your opinion on this thought of mine ?. Do feel free to let me know what your thoughts are on this in a comment below :)

The military woman in Wreck'it Ralph was inspired by her voice actor before the voice actor cosplayed as that character. Hence, the voice actor has cosplayed as herself in two ways.
